FUNDACIÓN

Since its creation, the mission of Danxica as a Festival and Fundación Danxica has been to educate, promote arts and preserve regional culture, as well as improve cultural rights of citizens of Quintana Roo. Danxica in recent years has become a cultural engine in Quintana Roo with more than 11 years of experience.

It has held 11 editions of the Danxica Festival, a celebration of dance and other arts, with more than 500 national and international artists on stage, and 80 different art workshops. A special feature of the Festival is that it offers shows to vulnerable communities and vulnerable children from the national “DIF” program.

Danxica Festival has received 3 grants from PROFEST, grants from the Ministry of Spain, University of South Korea and scholarships from the Quebec Ballet. Since the Danxica Foundation began its “Women, Art and Resilience” program in 2021, part of its objectives has also become to generate resilience factors in women in a vulnerable state, guided by the principles of the State of Quintana Roo’s Prevention Model for women from 15 years on.

With the testimonies of the beneficiaries, Danxica aims to improve its program and gear it increasingly towards the entwining of arts with the needs of the community.

Danxica specifically aims to support the community in Puerto Morelos, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, which is a crucial cultural partner, with the resources and experience gained inthe last years, in order to expand sustainable access to and participation in culture, especially for excluded social groups.
